Gene Ingebritson, a tool maker and designer who worked for many years at McKechnie Tooling and Engineering, a toolmaking operation in Staples, Minn., and later at connector-maker Arborn Inc. in Little Falls, Minn., died on Easter Sunday, April 20, after a seven-year battle with cancer.

He was 62.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. May 10 at the Sacred Heart Church in Staples. On May 9, a gathering for family and friends will be held at the church dining hall from 6-8 p.m.

Ingebritson graduated from Staples High School in 1969. He attended Staples Technical College, for tooling and design.

He was a former Scoutmaster of the Staples Boy Scouts, who enjoyed nature and camping.

His wife, Tes Ingebritson, invited people to wear colors in his memory, “as I, his wife, will be doing as he requested things not to be dark and dull.”

“Gene enjoyed the spirit and color all his family and friends gave to his life,” she wrote in an email to colleagues and friends. “He had a saying when it poured, let us dance in the rain, which I had a plaque made up for him to enjoy his saying. Then there was the rainbow at the end of it all, and Gene would enjoy all the colors of his life by sharing what a beautiful colorful world God gave us. And he viewed in awe for minutes to follow what struck him as gloriously colored and take it all in.”
