The Society of Plastics Engineers says the new office space will be in a more business-like location.

The Society of Plastics Engineers is moving from Newtown, Conn., about five miles to Bethel, Conn., in the Berkshire Corporate Park.

SPE currently is located in a house that was converted into office space. Gail Bristol, SPE’s managing director, said the society’s lease expires at the end of July.

“We have chosen to find other space in a more business-like location,” she said in an email.

Berkshire Corporate Park is large, covering parts of three towns: Bethel, Danbury and Brookfield, she said. There are five suites on the floor SPE will occupy, including the society and four other firms.

SPE staff expects to move between mid-July and the end of July, Bristol said. The address will be 6 Berkshire Blvd., Unit 306, Bethel, CT 06801.

SPE moved to Newtown in 2009, from its longtime home in Brookfield, Conn., which the society had owned. SPE sold the Brookfield building.

Bristol said SPE signed the lease for the Bethel office shortly after its Antec 2014 conference, which was April 28-30 in Las Vegas.

The space is being built out to meet SPE’s requirements, and includes offices, a break room, a large conference room and a reception and waiting room area.
